4:45 AM

That is what time my alarm goes off when I want to work out in the morning.  4:45 am is also the time that I have been silencing my phone and resetting it to 5:30 or 6:00 and going back to sleep.  I have done this each morning that I have planned on working out since my last post (I MIGHT have worked out once…cannot say for sure).

Obviously, I need to use this blog in a more honest way instead of just not writing anything when I don’t work out.  For the past few weeks I have been looking for my motivation.  Muddy Buddy has come and gone and I don’t wake up with the fear of showing up for the race and realizing that I am not going to make it to the end because of my lack of working out, so my previous reason for early workouts is no longer.

I do believe that I have found something motivating enough to get myself out of bed in the morning.  This weekend, while in Dallas, I did a little shopping with Mom and Maria.  Turns out that I have been wearing jeans that way too big and I was able to buy a pair of size 12’s!!!!!!!  The last time that I wore size 12 was in high school and that is a BIG motivator to get going in the mornings.  It would really suck to only fit into my new jeans for a short time because of my laziness.

My plan is to take it one day at a time, starting with getting up at 4:45 tomorrow morning and doing the cardio workout on Power 90.  I also plan on blogging each day about my workout (or lack there of) that day.  Hopefully that will be some added motivation to workout as I don’t want to say day after day that I didn’t workout.

You and me, Ria.  We’ve got this thing!

I. Am. Fat.

There, I said it. I am fat. Whether you think so or not, I don’t really care, because I think I am. I have most definitely slipped from my routine of working out and eating better and I am back to where I was last year around this time. I am not going to let it get the best of me and I will win. And It starts now. I ate the heart-attack inducing, yet oh so tasty lasagna for lunch, and I will be sticking with lighter options. Sweets will always be a part of my diet, so I will not ever say I won’t eat sweets, but I am going to try and limit myself.

And I need your help. Seriously. I really need it. I cannot do it on my own and living on my own makes it really easy to hibernate and eat…a lot. But I will win in the battle against over-eating and not working out. I will win.

Post Half-Marathon

Well, it’s been two days since the half, and I am still riding on the mindset that I can eat anything I want since I ran on Sunday. That’s gotta change.

For the next month I will be focusing on strength training while still running, but not far distances. I will keep everyone updated with my progress.

How is everyone else doing???

Sarah and Stephanie

Congratulations to Sarah and Stephanie for completing the half-marathon on Sunday! Mom says they did a great job and finished together, which is what they wanted to do! Way to go girls! Nice job!

The Leader

To me, it sounds like dad is the leader of this challenge at this point……is this motivation to anyone besides me?

Ready to Run?!

Hello.

I have come out of hibernation.  After not running (AT ALL) since our Muddy Buddy experiment around 2.5 weeks ago…18 days to be exact…I have come back to life.  I woke up this morning at 5am and ran a wopping 4 miles.  I planned to run 5, but I sacrificed the extra mile for an extra 10 minutes of sleep beforehand.

So, as I lay in Steph’s bed in Austin watching the Popeye’s Chicken commercial, I continue to wish I hadn’t been so lazy the last few weeks.  Or just had taken advantage of the laziness and eaten more Popeye’s.  Mmmmmm, Louisiana :)

Oh, and much to Angela’s dismay, I have a surprise for everyone.

Sean gave me a sneak peak of his man belly whilst taking a short walk in the neighborhood last night.  You’re welcome, Ria :)

Bike

OK! I rode the bike 5 miles on Monday; 10 miles on both Tuesday and Wednesday; and 5 miles today (Thursday). Want to get in 10 miles a day but somedays are better than others. Gotta work on it!

Slacker

So, remember in my last post I said my workout’s would begin on Sunday? Well, they began today…on Tuesday…therefore, two days of slacking in my life. Sunday was filled with sleeping and recovering from my 13 hour (thanks to the time change) shift, meeting with Angela and Sean, and a Hannah Montana episode watching party with Luke. Monday was filled with IMAX 3D, bike rides, and more hanging with Luke and meeting up with Angela and Livi. I told myself I would go workout when I got home last night, but the box of Reese’s Peanut Butter cookies that came home with me won, and I was in no shape to go workout.

Thus, this afternoon when I woke up after a glorious 15 hours of sleep, I headed straight to the gym…no email, no TV, no food…just gym. I did 30 minutes on the elliptical thanks to the entertainment from the Millionaire Matchmaker, and some weights.

I am now mentally preparing myself for waking up at 3pm these next two days before I go into work. Maybe the fact that I will see sunshine if I wake up at 3 will be motivation enough to go workout. Keep the posts coming…I think this is the most honest I have ever been about my slacker tendencies.

Today’s Run

Well, that 10 mile run that I said I was going to do… never happened. I was a HUGE slacker yesterday and didn’t do anything besides go to breakfast with Jeff, eat too much, and watch TV all day.

So, this morning I woke up and went running. I ran 5 miles again. It wasn’t too bad. I am planning on running every day this week besides Friday and Saturday.
